2025 POLICIES
2025 Policies
Terms & Policy for Individual and private Instrumental, Music Theory, or Composition lessons.
A. Lessons
Students must have the instrument that they will be working on and must also be willing to purchase any music that is suggested by the teacher. There are no long term contracts or commitments. The student may take lessons for as long as they would like. If a student wishes to take time off, they may do so within the limits of the policy or they can take the summer off. However, there is no guarantee of an available lesson day and time for the fall.
LESSON TIMES
Lessons are weekly. A 5th lesson will be added to invoices for month's that have 5 weeks. Students are encouraged to keep their lesson time the same throughout the school year.

TARDINESS
If a student is late, time will not be made up, and no credit will be given. If the teacher is late, the time will be made up at a day and time mutually agreed upon.
CANCELLATIONS/NO NOTICE MAKE-UP LESSONS/LESSON CREDIT
The student/parent must contact the teacher to notify of a cancellation and/or to schedule a make-up. If it becomes necessary for a student/parent to cancel a lesson due to any reason (other than illness/sick), a twenty-four (24) hour notice prior to the lesson time MUST be given. If a 24 hour notice (of the beginning of the lesson time) is given, students/parents may either schedule a make-up lesson or receive a credit towards the next month's tuition. No make-up lesson or credit will be given for cancellations made with less than a 24hr notice (of the beginning of the lesson time). If it is necessary for the TEACHER to cancel, make-up lessons will automatically be given or a credit will be given to the student.

ILLNESS/SICK CANCELLATIONS
If a lesson must be cancelled by a student/parent due to illness/sick, a make-up lesson or a lesson credit will be applied. No make-up lessons will be given if a teacher determines, that the illness/sick cancellation is being abused.
EMERGENCY CANCELLATIONS
If a lesson must be cancelled by a student due to an emergency, and notification can not be made at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance, a make-up lesson is solely within the discretion of the teacher. No make-up lessons will be given if a teacher determines, that the emergency cancellation is being abused.
PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Parents are strongly encouraged to show a genuine interest in their child’s learning music, to encourage their child to practice on a regular basis, based on the teacher’s guidelines, and to exercise patience regarding their expectations. These are all important factors for helping a student sustain their interest in music, making a difference between being a good student and a being great student.
B.Tuition
A one time $25 registration fee is paid to Heid Music when lessons initially begin (the teacher receives none of this fee).
All lesson payments are strictly between the teacher and the student/parent.
The monthly tuition is due before or by the first lesson of each month. Payment for the entire month of lessons is due at that time.
Tuition must be paid on time each month as stated above. In the event the tuition is not paid when due, unless other arrangements have already been made, the teacher reserves the right to stop lessons until the tuition is paid.
C. Recitals
Participation in Student Recitals is not required, but is encouraged. The recital will take place in December. The recital takes place at Heid Music, Madison. The recital provides an opportunity for students to prepare a piece of music, incorporating the technique and musicianship learned in lessons. It gives students an opportunity to perform for their family and peers and receive encouragement and positive feedback.
D. Termination of Lessons
If a student stops taking lessons at anytime during the year, a two-week notice is appreciated.
E. Resuming Lessons after Summer Break
Lessons are available all year. However, if a student chooses to take a summer break from lessons, they can resume in September. This is the month that a new academic year begins.
